The listing is the work of the late Arthur Badrock, who I believe had sight of the original recording ledgers, and so was able to note recording dates as well. If you have anything to add or correct, please e-mail me.
Thanks to the following for extra information: Susan Farren, Mike Langridge
Jay Wilbur was the musical director and most of the dance band records are by a studio band under his direction, but issued under a number of different pseudonyms. I have put Wilbur's name in brackets after the band name where this applies. It will be noted that the master numbers are prefixed by JW; it is presumed this refers to Wilbur's initials.

NOTE: At this point, Bertini & his Band (from Blackpool) started recording for Eclipse. The whole band used to travel down from Blackpool for fairly lengthy recording sessions in London. However, it seems that, subsequently, it must have been decided that some masters were not suitable for issue (or were damaged in processing), so Jay Wilbur & his Band would re-record the same tunes, and attempt to emulate Bertini's style, and these would be issued under Bertini's name. Some, though, like the three below below don't seem to have ever been recorded by Bertini and it would appear that they were Crystalate copyright tunes recorded to couple with the Bertini sides and issued under Bertini's name for convenience. Just to confuse things, it may be possible to find both the Bertini and the Wilbur remakes of the same titles issued. |
