Better-known for their
Cylindrical records, Clarion only produced disc records for a short
time. The first series were vertical-cut (aka hill-and-dale or phono)
and date from 1908, using a 1000 series catalogue of about 30 discs.
Incidentally, some years ago, Chris Hamilton reported seeing a 12"
vertical cut Clarion. I have no details of any of these! Four years later, they tried again with standard groove discs which were available until 1918, the series starting at 101 and nearly reaching 200. The label design for both 10" series was the same as that shown here. |
Please
e-mail
me if you can help me fill in the gaps,
or matrix numbers
in any of these series.
Thank you for the following people who
have provided extra details:
Greg Butler, John Culley, Bill Dean-Myatt, Norman
Field, Ian McPherson,
John Norman, Richard Prout,
Eppe Stekelenburg
First, the earlier vertical cut series.
These date from about 1908-09.
