Beltona Bairns

The Beltona Bairns records were 5½" diameter. They were manufactured by The Universal Music Company from masters also issued on the Little Marvel label. They date from about 1924 and were sold in albums available through J.G. Murdoch Trading in London.

Unlike Little Marvel, however, all Beltona Bairns records were aimed at young children, all having a nursery rhyme on one side, coupled with a light instrumental recording. The words to the nursery rhymes were printed on each pocket in the album.

There are two known series of these records. The first one ran from Catalogue number A-1 to A-12. The second ran from 301 to 312.
There were 6 records in each album, so the two series each represent 2 albums, making a total of 4 albums.

Frank Andrews & Bill Dean-Myatt, who researched the Beltona label, thought there may be another series of Beltona Bairns records using an 1000- series catalogue number, which may have been exported to Australia, but no details are known of any of these, if they even existed!

Thanks to the late Bill Dean-Myatt for the images.

All the initial details below from research done by Frank Andrews & Bill Dean Myatt.

I've not heard any of these, but the singer is likely to be John Thorne.
